A new report by Senate Democrats claims that Sen. Marsha Blackburn refused to help subpoena financial records related to Jeffrey Epstein.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The report <\/a>by Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Oregon), released last week, suggested that major banks including JPMorganChase, Bank of America and Deutsche Bank failed to report concerns about Epstein\u2019s financial transactions from as far back as 2002 until after the millionaire financier was arrested on sex trafficking charges in 2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI said from the start that if you want to get to the bottom of the Jeffrey Epstein cover-up, you had to follow the money,\u201d Wyden said in a statement accompanying the report.<\/p>\n \u201cThis report is a ready-made roadmap for prosecutors, investigators and members of Congress to finally start holding the Epstein class accountable,\u201d he continued.\u00a0<\/p>\n In the report, Blackburn \u2014 Tennessee\u2019s senior senator and the Republican nominee for governor \u2014 is accused of ignoring efforts by Senate Democrats to subpoena these banks, despite her public calls for transparency in the Epstein case and punitive justice for sex offenders.\u00a0<\/p>\n Wyden, a ranking member and former chair of the Senate Finance Committee, says he repeatedly went to Blackburn\u2019s staff from 2024-2025 to ask for her help as a Republican committee member to subpoena Epstein bank records \u201cas Blackburn had long been an outspoken proponent of increased transparency with relation to Jeffrey Epstein,\u201d but her office declined.\u00a0<\/p>\n The next year, Blackburn posted on social media<\/a>, claiming her \u201cefforts to crack the Epstein trafficking ring wide open have been stonewalled by Democrats at every turn,\u201d despite allegedly opting out of helping Wyden with the Finance Committee investigation.\u00a0<\/p>\n That day, Blackburn also wrote a letter <\/a>to newly appointed FBI Director Kash Patel calling it \u201cparamount that the FBI provide full transparency to the American people and immediately release the complete, unredacted records in this case.\u201d Specifically, Blackburn called for the release of flight logs from Epstein\u2019s private helicopter and plane, records containing names of associates including the infamous \u201clittle black book\u201d maintained by Ghislaine Maxwell, footage from Epstein\u2019s Florida home and \u201cany other documents, records, or memoranda related to the Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell matters.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n The same day, she wrote to the IRS, asking the agency to release any materials \u201cthat reveal the names of individuals and entities that held any type of financial relationship with Jeffrey Epstein or Ghislaine Maxwell.\u201d<\/p>\n According to the report, Blackburn also ignored a request from Wyden in December to co-sponsor the Produce Epstein Treasury Records Act, which would have required the Treasury Department to share Epstein\u2019s financial records with the committee. The bill currently has 10 sponsors, all of whom are Democrats.\u00a0<\/p>\n If Blackburn is elected governor, she will leave the Senate office in January and ostensibly have no further role in the investigation into, or records fight surrounding, Epstein and Maxwell. Still, the report paints a different picture than Blackburn\u2019s public comments on Epstein and some campaign promises.<\/p>\n During her campaign for governor, Blackburn has said that she will be tough on crime, specifically calling for sex offenders to be executed, when asked if she would continue executions if elected in a questionnaire by the Banner<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cYes, as soon as a criminal sentenced to death has exhausted all of his\/her appeals, the state should execute them,\u201d Blackburn said. \u201cAs governor, I will work to bring back the electric chair so that victims\u2019 families can get the closure they deserve. If you rape or molest our babies in Tennessee, you should get a death sentence.\u201d<\/p>\n
