LG Uplus (032640.KS) will install its Live TV+ real-time video streaming service in Mercedes-Benz Korea’s new vehicle, the New S-Class, the company said on the 18th.<\/p>\n
Live TV+ lets passengers watch 28 broadcast channels in the car, spanning news, golf, music, entertainment and children’s programming. Rather than using digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB), it delivers content over an in-vehicle wireless connection. This allows uninterrupted viewing even in areas with poor reception, such as underground parking garages and tunnels. Users can access any channel directly, without a separate account login.<\/p>\n
Live TV+ includes a dedicated Mercedes-Benz brand channel that carries new-model introductions and campaign videos. LG Uplus plans to expand the Live TV+ service to a range of new vehicle models going forward. As Mercedes-Benz Korea’s official software partner, the company plans to handle everything from service development to content provision and operation.<\/p>\n
Bae Jun-hyung, who leads LG Uplus’s Mobility Business Task Force, said the service is the result of adapting LG Uplus’s media operations capabilities to Mercedes-Benz’s vehicle environment.
