The Proteas built their pedigree upon their return to international cricket on the basis of their high-quality, seam-bowling all-rounders.<\/p>\n

From Brian McMillan through to Jacques Kallis, Shaun Pollock, and Lance Klusener, the Proteas had a production line of individuals who could turn a match with either bat or ball.<\/p>\n

And then suddenly, the tap ran dry, and the Proteas had to find a way to fit two players into one in order for the XI to balance.<\/p>\n

But since the arrival of coach Shukri Conrad, there has been a conscious decision to develop all-rounders again, which has reaped benefits through Wiaan Mulder, Marco Jansen, and Corbin Bosch playing prominent roles for the Proteas across the three formats.<\/p>\n

Conrad has tested the depth even further for the upcoming Namibia white-ball series with the selection of young all-rounders Duan Jansen, Nqobani Mokoena, and Bosch\u2019s younger brother, Eathan.<\/a><\/p>\n

Corbin has been given some time off for the Namibian series, but he won\u2019t be resting on his laurels, as he knows he needs to stay on top of his game.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a really exciting stage in South African cricket. I think the whole landscape \u2014 from SA20 and grassroots to franchise cricket \u2014 is really producing some top-quality cricketers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think South Africa are known for their incredible all-rounders, and it’s nice to see that people are putting their hands up and really putting their best foot forward. And I think the guys going to Namibia have a great opportunity to showcase their skills at an international level.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor me, it forces me to keep wanting to upskill and keep getting better so that, again, when it comes to putting your name on the team sheet, you’re one of the first ones up there.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think all-rounders are invaluable, especially in this country, and it forces you just to make sure that you’re the best that you can possibly be.\u201d<\/p>\n

The past 18 months have seen Bosch enjoy a meteoric rise, with the 31-year-old producing match-winning performances for the Proteas. He already has a five-wicket haul, has struck a maiden Test century, and has become the Proteas\u2019 go-to man at the death in T20s.<\/p>\n

He is hoping it\u2019s going to be enough to be involved in the much-anticipated series against Australia next month.<\/p>\n

\u201cAustralia are one of the better cricketing sides in the world, and I think it’s a great opportunity for us to measure ourselves against a real championship side,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it’s exciting; as a youngster, you grow up watching Test cricket at like 3 o’clock in the morning in Australia.
