He was in the hospital on Friday. (Theodore Parisienne \/ New York Daily News)<\/p>\n<p>Police say Torres was drag racing with a Corvette driver down Sherman Ave. when the Corvette slammed into him.<\/p>\n<p>The out-of-control Corvette went on to strike a 34-year-old pedestrian near the corner, then launched onto the sidewalk where it slammed into the side of a building, cops said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"Multiple people were injured in a crash at Sherman Ave. and W. 204th St. in Inwood on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026. (Theodore Parisienne \/ New York Daily News)<\/p>\n<p>The Mercedes hit a parked, unoccupied moped before Torres climbed out and fled the scene, leaving the wrecked luxury vehicle behind.
