It’s 75 years of the Porsche brand in Australia, but it also coincides with 75 years of global motorsport, so really exciting celebrations for us and there is a number of activations that will happen across the course of the year.”

Porsche 911 Cup 2027-Hero

Porsche 911 Cup 2027-75 Years

Porsche 911 Cup 2027-Boxing Kangaroo

Porsche 911 Cup 2027-Front 3Q

Porsche 911 Cup 2027-Side

Porsche 911 Cup 2027-Rear 3Q

More front-end response

The car has already run internationally, giving Porsche Cars Australia and its drivers an indication of what to expect when it arrives locally.

Nayda said feedback had centred on improved aerodynamic balance and greater feel from the front of the car.

“The car has already been run in some of the championships overseas in Supercup, Asia, North America and the feedback is that its improved aerodynamic balance, greater feel through the front end of the car achieved through a new design modification in the undertray of the rear wing,” he said.

“The feedback from the drivers is that the car is a lot nicer car to drive.”

The visible louvres over the front guards are among the most obvious differences and caught the attention of 2025 Carrera Cup Australia Pro champion Dylan O’Keeffe.

“Each iteration of the Porsches, they’re always a bit better, so they’ve refined some of the previous things that might not have been great with the car,” O’Keeffe said.

“With Porsche everything is going to be excellent and with this new model car, I’m keen to see how it handles.

“Probably the biggest thing is those front guards, it’s got air vents on them, so keen to see how that feels.

“Probably gives us a bit more front response when following a car, a bit more GT style, so these cars keep evolving to become more like mini GT cars.”

Adapting to the new car

For reigning Pro-Am champion Rodney Jane, the change also creates another variable for drivers when the new cars hit the track.

“They always make the car a bit different, a bit better, a bit more power each time so something to look forward to,” Jane said.

“First test day we’ll see what it’s like, see how different it is and then it’s a question of how different it is for everyone and how good we all are at adapting to go faster in them.”

That adjustment period is traditionally one of the challenges of a Carrera Cup model change, with the Australian teams effectively starting again with the same new package.

Porsche customer racing range takes shape

The launch of the latest Cup car follows another major addition to Porsche’s customer racing range, with the new Porsche 911 GT4 R revealed recently ahead of its competition debut in 2027.

The GT4 R represents an important change for Porsche’s customer racing program, moving its GT4 offering onto the 911 platform and bringing it closer to the other major elements of the manufacturer’s racing range.

The new Cup car forms the next step in that structure, sitting between Porsche’s GT4 machinery and the 911 GT3 R at the top of its customer racing ladder.

The GT3 program has also moved forward, with Porsche recently unveiling the latest evolution of the 911 GT3 R as part of the same broader customer racing push.

With the GT4 R, new Cup car and latest GT3 R now forming the core of Porsche’s customer racing range, the manufacturer is creating a more closely aligned progression from GT4 through one-make competition and into international GT3 racing.

<a href="https://autoaction.com.au/digital" target="_blank" class="square" onclick="if (!window.__cfRLUnblockHandlers) return false;
