{"id":77881,"date":"2026-08-24T10:29:23","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T10:29:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/77881\/"},"modified":"2026-08-24T10:29:23","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T10:29:23","slug":"uniper-equinor-seal-long-term-gas-supply-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/77881\/","title":{"rendered":"Uniper, Equinor seal long-term gas supply deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">German energy and LNG firm Uniper has signed a long-term deal with Norway\u2019s Equinor for the supply of natural gas to Germany.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Equinor and Uniper announced the agreement in separate statements on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the agreement, Equinor will supply Uniper with more than 30 TWh (2.8 billion cubic meters) of natural gas per year from 2027 to 2041. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Equinor, pricing will reflect market terms, while other commercial details are confidential between the parties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Germany is Equinor\u2019s largest market for natural gas and has been an anchor market for Norwegian gas since exports started in 1977.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe agreement strengthens the long-term supply of the German market with natural gas and contributes to the further diversification of Uniper\u2019s portfolio, helping to further secure reliable gas supplies for Uniper\u2019s customers in Germany,\u201d Uniper said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Uniper noted that \u201clong-term and reliable supply relationships with established European producers are particularly important against the backdrop of continued volatility in global energy markets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThey are an important pillar of Germany\u2019s energy security and contribute to a well-functioning and competitive European gas market,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Equinor and Uniper have also signed a non-binding letter of intent to explore possible sales from Equinor to Uniper of sustainability-related attributes linked to supplies under the new gas sales agreement. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These attributes refer to documented data on the origin of the gas and its greenhouse gas intensity and other sustainability characteristics of Equinor\u2019s gas production.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This gas supply deal follows a recent long-term LNG sale and purchase agreement Uniper <a href=\"https:\/\/lngprime.com\/americas\/uniper-ksi-lisims-lng-seal-long-term-lng-supply-deal\/194038\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">signed<\/a> with Ksi Lisims LNG for volumes from the latter\u2019s planned export project in Canada.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the deal, Uniper will purchase 2 million tonnes of LNG per year on a free-on-board (FOB) basis for up to 20 years, with first deliveries expected from 2032.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ksi Lisims LNG, a joint venture of the Nisga\u2019a Nation, Rockies LNG, and Western LNG, has yet to make a final investment decision on its project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"German energy and LNG firm Uniper has signed a long-term deal with Norway\u2019s Equinor for the supply of&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":77882,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[21075],"tags":[5798,4991],"class_list":["post-77881","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-uniper","tag-equinor","tag-uniper"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/77881","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=77881"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/77881\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/77882"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=77881"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=77881"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/germany\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=77881"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
