German energy company Uniper and Norway’s Equinor have signed a 15-year agreement to supply natural gas to Germany, the companies said Monday.<\/p>\n
Under the deal, Equinor will deliver more than 30 terawatt-hours of natural gas annually to Uniper from 2027 through 2041, both companies said in separate statements.<\/p>\n
Uniper said the agreement would strengthen the long-term supply of the German market, diversify its portfolio and help secure reliable gas supplies for its customers.<\/p>\n
Commenting on the deal, Michael Lewis, CEO of Uniper, said that the companies also see potential to cooperate on lower-emission gas solutions for customers in Germany, describing Norway as a cornerstone of Europe’s energy security and Equinor as a “trusted partner.”<\/p>\n
Equinor CEO Anders Opedal said the agreement showed continued strong demand for reliable, long-term supplies from the Norwegian continental shelf.<\/p>\n
Equinor is one of Europe’s leading natural gas suppliers and provides a direct link between Norway’s gas resources and the European energy market.<\/p>\n
