Equinor and German energy company Uniper have signed a
\n15-year agreement under which Equinor will supply more than 30 terawatt-hours
\n(TWh), or about 2.8 billion cubic metres, of natural gas annually to Germany.<\/p>\n
The deal runs from January 1, 2027, through December 31,
\n2041, with deliveries made at Trading Hub Europe, Germany\u2019s gas market area. <\/p>\n
Pricing will reflect market conditions, while other
\ncommercial terms remain confidential.<\/p>\n
Germany is Equinor\u2019s largest natural gas market and has been
\na key destination for Norwegian gas since exports began in 1977.<\/p>\n
\u00a0The new contract
\nstarts as Norway and Equinor mark 50 years of gas exports to Germany.<\/p>\n
The companies also signed a non-binding letter of intent to
\nexplore sales of sustainability-related attributes linked to the gas supplies. <\/p>\n
These attributes include independently verified data on gas
\norigin, greenhouse-gas intensity and other sustainability characteristics, made
\navailable through Equinor\u2019s digital Attributes platform.<\/p>\n
Equinor said natural gas is expected to remain important to
\nEurope\u2019s energy mix, supporting energy security, industrial activity and system
\nflexibility as renewable power and low-carbon gases expand.<\/p>\n

\ngas supplies from the Norwegian continental shelf, which delivers energy and
\nindustrial feedstock with a lower carbon footprint than alternative gas supply.
