Equinor and German energy company Uniper have signed a 15-year agreement that will see Equinor supply more than 30 TWh of natural gas \u2014 about 2.8 billion cubic metres \u2014 to Germany each year, reinforcing Norway\u2019s role as a key supplier to Europe\u2019s largest economy.<\/p>\n

The deal runs from 1 January 2027 through 31 December 2041, with gas delivered at Trading Hub Europe, Germany\u2019s central gas market area. Pricing will reflect market terms, while other commercial details remain confidential.<\/p>\n

Germany is Equinor\u2019s largest natural gas market and has served as an anchor market for Norwegian gas since exports began in 1977. The new supplies will begin in 2027 \u2014 the same year Norway and Equinor mark 50 years of gas exports to Germany.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor five decades, Norwegian gas has heated German homes, fuelled German industry and contributed to Germany\u2019s energy security. This new agreement with Uniper builds on that history and extends our commercial relationship well into the 2040s. The companies also signed a non-binding letter of intent to explore potential sales of sustainability-related attributes linked to the gas supplied under the agreement.<\/p>\n

Those attributes include verified data on the gas\u2019s origin, greenhouse gas intensity and other sustainability characteristics of Equinor\u2019s production. The information is third-party verified and made available through Equinor\u2019s Attributes digital platform.<\/p>\n
