FRANKFURT, May 28 (Reuters) – German state-owned utility Uniper (UN0k.DE), opens new tab<\/a> has appointed Christian Ohlms, finance chief \u200bof peer SEFE, as its \u200cnew chief commercial officer to run the group’s trading and sales activities.<\/p>\n

Ohlms, who has \u200bbeen serving as SEFE’s Chief \u200bFinancial Officer since January 2024, will \u2060join Uniper effective October 1, 2026, \u200bUniper said, replacing Carsten Poppinga who \u200bhas already left the company.<\/p>\n

“Trading and sales are core pillars of our business model and \u200bare crucial to creating long-term \u200bvalue for investors. Christian Ohlms brings the necessary \u200cexperience \u2060to further advance the development of a long-term gas procurement portfolio and to strengthen Uniper\u2019s asset-based optimisation and \u200btrading,” CEO \u200bMichael Lewis \u2060said<\/p>\n

Ohlms has more than 25 years of experience in \u200benergy and finance, with previous \u200bpostings \u2060at McKinsey, RWE (RWEG.DE), opens new tab<\/a> and E.ON (EONGn.DE), opens new tab<\/a><\/p>\n

The appointment comes as Uniper is gearing up \u2060for \u200breprivatisation after Berlin took \u200bover the company during Europe’s energy crisis in \u200b2022<\/p>\n
