\t\t\t\tNot long ago, South America’s 2027 Volkswagen Amarok<\/a> mid-size pickup truck was seen rolling across uneven terrain as a heavily camouflaged prototype \u2013 the all-new model could branch away from the shared Ford Ranger platform in the coming weeks, as South America’s next Volkswagen Amarok is coming sooner than the international model and potentially featuring Chinese underpinnings.\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

The German automaker<\/a> teased the funky design of the heavily camouflaged prototype in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and the rumor mill expects the newcomer on South American dealer lots sometime next year with a different style compared to the international model and potentially more power than ever before \u2013 all thanks to electrification, as hinted by Volkswagen.<\/p>\n

The company has not revealed any technical specifications to accompany the teaser, but local news outlets believe that Volkswagen might have gone down a completely different path versus the international model, which shares the underpinnings with the top-selling Ford Ranger. As such, Volkswagen may have used its joint venture with China\u2019s SAIC<\/a> to use a body-on-frame derivative of the Maxus Interstellar X, which allows native support for electrified powertrains.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s debate regarding whether the collaboration will result in a fully electric or plug-in hybrid setup, but it seems that Chinese automakers are now the go-to partners for all things related to zero emissions, as legacy carmakers are starting to fall behind because of the rapidly evolving technology in China and the competitive pricing. The VW Amarok for South America was also presented in a distinct style of camouflage, paying homage to the region\u2019s distinct look and culture.<\/p>\n

As fancy as it may be, a member of the imaginative guild of digital car content creators dwelling across the parallel universes of vehicular CGI still decided to peel off the camouflage and peek behind it. Kleber Silva, a Brazil-based virtual artist known as “KDesign AG<\/a>” on social media, has decided to have a CGI go at imagining the upcoming 2027 Volkswagen Amarok series based on the new Chinese underpinnings and with distinctive styling traits compared to the international version, both inside and outside.<\/p>\n

While the exterior design is not overly exaggerated, now featuring both front and rear LED bars connecting the headlights and taillights, plus stacked LED fog lamps at the edges of the front bumper, the interior is a big departure from the Ford Ranger-inspired cockpit of the second-gen Amarok sold internationally. So, what do you think \u2013 yay or nay?<\/p>\n

By the way, aside from the promise of a refreshed design and all-new interior plus the opportunity for electrification, the pixel master has also created an additional wishful-thinking element: a Volkswagen Amarok-based SUV. This would be a very big model, leveraging the pickup truck\u2019s bed space for an enclosed space. Cool or not?<\/p>\n
