From motorized doors to actual stone interior trims, this SUV is packed with some of the most ridiculously luxurious features on the market.

In a recent hands-on review, the carwow team got up close with the massive new X5. If you want to know what peak automotive flexing looks like in 2026, forget the horsepower figures and check out these insane features.

The “Ferrari” Doors

Why open your own car door when the vehicle can do it for you? The new X5 features automatic, motorized doors that operate similarly to the ultra-exclusive Ferrari Purosangue. The system is designed perfectly for “people who are too lazy to open doors themselves”. The doors are even equipped with advanced sensors at the bottom so they don’t accidentally swing open into your shins or a passing pedestrian.

Automatic Charging Flap

It might seem like a small detail, but the motorized DC charging flap is a massive quality-of-life upgrade for EV owners. When you need to plug in, you don’t have to manually pry off a cheap plastic cover. You simply “press this button Dip See that,” the host demonstrated as the flap automatically retracted. It is so satisfyingly simple that it was dubbed “my favorite new car feature so far this year”.

PlayStation in the Dash

For passengers, road trips are never going to be boring again. The X5 offers an optional passenger-side entertainment screen loaded with YouTube and video games like Beach Buggy Racing. The craziest part? You can connect a Bluetooth controller to play right on the dash. “You can even use the one from your PlayStation if you want,” the reviewer confirmed.

Pillows For Your Arms

BMW knows its buyers want extreme comfort. While plush headrest pillows are becoming standard in high-end luxury SUVs, the X5 takes it a step further. If the standard leather armrest isn’t soft enough, “you can also get a pillow for your armrest”. It straps perfectly onto the rear center console, providing extreme comfort for your forearms during long highway cruises.

Stone Center Console

Luxury cars usually default to carbon fiber, open-pore wood, or cheap piano black plastics for the center console. BMW took a completely different route. The area surrounding the crystal glass gear selector and volume control is “actually slate, so it’s stone”.

The Ultimate Hazard Lights

Even the exterior lighting has been turned into a party trick. The new headlight design integrates a glowing ‘X’ pattern that pulses aggressively when the hazards are triggered. It is so striking that the host joked it provides “an excuse for parking badly on the curb or something so you can put your hazard lights on and show off your car”.

The new BMW X5 has officially arrived, and instead of just tweaking the engine and slapping on a…

[20955
6213,29070
post-82669","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-bmw","tag-bmw","tag-bmw-x5
["GET
