Several explosive devices were discovered at a power plant near Germany\u2019s border with Poland in what local officials described as an attempted act of \u201csabotage\u201d against the power grid. <\/p>\n
Jan Redmann, interior minister for the eastern Brandenburg state, said authorities were searching the site and the number of devices found, currently \u201cin the double digits,\u201d was still rising, TVP World<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n The announcement came on the same day as Germany<\/a> announced that it held\u00a0Russia directly responsible\u00a0for an attempted drone attack on Leipzig airport in early August.\u00a0<\/p>\n The explosives were discovered at a substation next to J\u00e4nschwalde power station, located less than eight kilometers (five miles) from the Polish border.\u00a0<\/p>\n A spokesperson for Brandenburg police told TVP World said that \u201cseveral improvised explosive devices (IEDs)\u201d were found at the substation in the coal-fired facility following the detection of potential power line damage around 8 a.m. on Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n It added that some of them \u201chad not been detonated.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The substation a critical high-voltage node, connecting J\u00e4nschwalde, the region\u2019s largest power plant, to the transmission grid.\u00a0<\/p>\n Police said that bomb disposal experts were dispatched to the site and that evidence was being secured.\u00a0<\/p>\n Officials, however, added that there were no injuries and there is no immediate danger to the public.\u00a0<\/p>\n
