A Sunday afternoon drive in southwest Miami-Dade ended with a Porsche wrapped around a concrete utility pole, one man dead and another critically injured.<\/p>\n
And judging from what was left of the car, “wrapped around” may actually undersell it.<\/p>\n
The Porsche was ripped into two major pieces after the crash along Southwest 168th Street on Aug. 30, according to Local 10<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said two men were inside. One died at the scene, while the other was taken to Jackson North Medical Center in critical condition.<\/p>\n A Witness Saw The Porsche Moments Before The Crash<\/p>\n Jose De Prada told Local 10 he saw the Porsche traveling down the street shortly before the impact.<\/p>\n According to De Prada, the driver appeared to be going fast and tried to avoid another vehicle before losing control.<\/p>\n “I saw that Porsche trying to swerve away and lose control and pretty much hit the pole,” he told the station.<\/p>\n The impact was loud enough to send people running from their homes.<\/p>\n Brianna Fiallos told the station she was inside when she heard the crash.<\/p>\n “Everybody heard it from like way over there and everybody rushed and saw everything,” she said.<\/p>\n De Prada also ran toward the wreck.<\/p>\n He said one man was still trapped inside the Porsche while the other had been thrown onto the grass.<\/p>\n The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating. Authorities have not announced an official cause, and whether speed contributed to the crash remains under investigation.<\/p>\n The Passenger Worked At A Car Dealership<\/p>\n There is another detail that makes the crash even more unsettling.<\/p>\n Investigators confirmed that one of the men inside the Porsche worked for a local car dealership.<\/p>\n De Prada believes the Porsche was being taken on a test drive.<\/p>\n He told Local 10 he recognized the key fob as being from a dealership where he previously worked.<\/p>\n Local 10 said the witness identified the dealership, but the station was withholding its name because investigators had not independently confirmed that connection.<\/p>\n So, at this point, the dealership employment is confirmed.
