CAPE found large quantities of counterfeit Nike, Adidas, and other branded streetwear items<\/p>\n
An estimated retail value of $10 million in counterfeit luxury-branded streetwear was seized late this month, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff\u2019s Department in a press release sent out on Sep. 1.<\/p>\n
The discovery of the counterfeit started in early August, when the department\u2019s Counterfeit and Piracy Enforcement Team (CAPE) received information about a suspicious shipment. During the inspection, CAPE found large quantities of counterfeit Nike, Adidas, and other branded streetwear items.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The items were meant to be sent to a commercial warehouse located at the 11600 block of Goldring Road in Arcadia.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On Aug. 25, CAPE deputies and federal special agents obtained a search warrant for the warehouse and scouted the location for the selling and distribution of counterfeit trademarked goods. During the search, the team confiscated approximately 25,898 items of counterfeit merchandise with an estimated retail value of $10 million.\u00a0<\/p>\n
No arrests were made so far as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n
Los Angeles County is a major hub for counterfeit merchandise due to its large entry ports and commercial and manufacturing warehouses.\u00a0<\/p>\n
