Luke Wilson is the latest addition to Will Ferrell‘s upcoming comedy series set in the world of pro golf at Netflix.
Exact plot details are being under wraps, aside from the fact that Ferrell will play a fictional golf legend. Wilson is set to play “a pro golfer who rivals Will Ferrell’s character, having beaten him for the tour championship twice,” per the official character description.
Along with Ferrell and Wilson, the cast also includes Molly Shannon, Jimmy Tatro, Fortume Feimster, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver, and David Hornsby. The show was originally announced in May 2024.
The role marks a reunion onscreen for Ferrell and Wilson. The two previously starred together in the hit comedy “Old School” as well as “The Wendell Baker Story,” with Wilson also making cameos in Ferrell’s films “Anchorman” and “Blades of Glory.” Wilson also starred in the Netflix dark comedy “No Good Deed,” which Ferrell executive produced under his Gloria Sanchez Productions banner.
Wilson is also known for his early collaborations with Wes Anderson, including “Bottle Rocket” “The Royal Tenenbaums,” and “Rushmore.” He has starred in other films like “Horizon: An American Saga” Parts 1 & 2, two “Legally Blonde” films, “Idiocracy,” and “The Skeleton Twins.” In television, aside from “No Good Deed,” he has starred in shows like DC’s “Stargirl,” “That ’70s Show,” “Enlightened,” and “Roadies.”

Netflix has ordered 10 episodes of the golf series, which will be Ferrell’s first TV starring role. Ferrell executive produces along with Jessica Elbaum and Alix Taylor for Gloria Sanchez Productions. Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman and Nena Rodrigue are executive producers for T-Street. Chris Henchy, Harper Steele, David Gordon Green and Andrew Guest will serve as executive producers.
