The sixth Signature Event of the PGA Tour season takes place this week at the Truist Championship.

72 golfers, including 39 of the world’s top-50 ranked players, will descend upon Quail Hollow Club in North Carolina to compete for the top prize of $3.6 million and find form ahead of next week’s PGA Championship.

Masters champion Rory McIlroy, who has not played since capturing his second straight Green Jacket in early April, is the standout name in a field that does not include world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.

McIlroy will play alongside Cameron Young and Matt Fitzpatrick, both multi-time winners on tour this season, over the first two rounds. However, none of those big hitters come in as the most-backed player to win the tournament.

Rather, Adam Scott (+2500 to win outright) is the most-bet golfer to win the Truist Championship at Betway.

Scott, a 14-time winner on the PGA Tour, is poised to be in the mix at Quail Hollow one week on from his T4 finish at the Cadillac Championship.

The Australian is without a win on tour since Feb. 2020, but has a decent track record at this course (T5 in 2023) and his odds suggest he has a real shot this time around.

No one comes close to McIlroy’s record at Quail Hollow, though, as the Northern Irishman has a sensational four wins in 14 career starts at the venue.

Overall, Scott has the eighth-best odds in the field, trailing outright favorite McIlroy (+550), Young (+800), and Xander Schauffele (+900).

Ludvig Aberg, fourth in the betting alongside Fitzpatrick at +1200, is taking the second-most bets to win the Truist Championship. It has been a season of what-ifs for the 26-year-old Swede, who has regularly found himself in contention (four top-5s, zero wins) only to falter at the end.

Jordan Spieth, a +4000 shot to triumph at Quail Hollow, is also a favorite among bettors this week.

”Rory McIlroy’s record at Quail Hollow is there for all to see, but it is interesting to see punters have been looking for value away from the head of the market,” said Betway spokesperson Lewis Knowles.

“Adam Scott has been very popular since his excellent round of 64 at the Cadillac Championship on Sunday, and he’d be by far our worst result going into this week’s Truist Championship.”
