CARLSBAD, Calif. — It’s time to crown a national champion at the 2026 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship.
Top-ranked Auburn and challenger UCLA, No. 23 in the country, will face off in a battle of David vs. Goliath Wednesday afternoon at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. Auburn is looking for its second national championship in the past three years. UCLA, a team that was under .500 at the midway point of the spring season, has been as hot as any team in the country, winning its first two NCAA match play battles ever Tuesday to advance into the championship. Now, the two sides will battle for the championship.

Jackson Koivun gets Auburn’s second point
This is all but over. Jackson Koivun birdies the 15th and wins his match, 4 and 3. 2-0 Tigers.
Jake Albert gets the first point on the board for Auburn, topping Tyler Loree 5 and 3. Auburn leads 1-0.
Auburn closing in on championship
Three Auburn players have leads of at least 3 up, and with only five holes to go in Cayden Pope’s match (4 up), it’s looking like the Tigers could clinch a title in the next half hour or so.
UCLA’s Baylor Larrabee holes out for birdie
The Bruins are in need of some momentum, and Baylor Larrabee is trying to be the spark. He chips in for eagle on the par-3 12th to move to 2 down against Jackson Koivun.
The top-ranked team in the country has a strong grip on three of the five matches. Jake Albert, Jackson Koivun and Cayden Pope all lead 2 up, with Albert and Koivun on the 10th hole and Pope on the ninth. The lead match remains tied while Josh Kim is the only Bruin blue on the board as of now.
Insane chip helps UCLA steal a hole
Alex Papayoanou was on the verge of going 2 down at the turn. Instead, he wins the hole after this saucy chip. Tied thru 9 holes.
Jake Albert goes 2 up for Auburn
All matches are on the course, but Auburn’s Jake Albert is the only one with a lead thus far. He’s 2 up thru 4 and has birdied three of his first four holes.
Auburn wins first hole after UCLA penalty
UCLA’s Alex Papayoanou hit his opening tee shot out of bounds, forcing him to re-tee and giving freshman Logan Reilly a 1-up lead after one hole.
Auburn brings mascot to Omni La Costa
Auburn is on the other side of the country, but that didn’t stop them from bringing Aubie the Tiger to Omni La Costa for the championship match on Wednesday afternoon. No sign of the Bruin yet.

NCAA Men’s Golf Championship TV information

Finals play for both the men’s and women’s championships consists of three days of stroke play on Friday through Sunday (54 holes), after which the top-15 teams and nine individuals not on an advancing team will be determined. That is followed by a final day of 18 holes of stroke play (Monday) to determine the top eight teams that will advance to match play as well as the 72-hole individual champion. The team national champion will be determined by a match-play format that will consist of quarterfinals and semifinals conducted on Tuesday, followed by the finals on Wednesday.
