We’ve seen Spider putter shapes evolve in recent years, but TaylorMade’s newest Spider Tour family takes a much more segmented approach than previous generations. Rather than creating slight variations of the same high-MOI formula, the new lineup separates models through center of gravity placement, alignment philosophy, toe flow and overall head behavior.
The result is a Spider family built much more around fitting and stroke preference than simply visual shape choice.
That shift comes at a time when mallets continue dominating the market. According to TaylorMade, nearly 80 percent of putter sales now come from mallets, a number that has fundamentally changed how companies approach putter development.
New Torched Finish for 2026

The most immediate change in the 2026 Spider lineup is visual. TaylorMade has introduced a new torched PVD finish across the entire family, inspired by Rory McIlroy’s personal Spider Tour X.
According to TaylorMade’s R&D team, Rory’s original putter finish looked fantastic but lacked the durability required for retail production. The company spent considerable time recreating that appearance in a finish that could withstand regular play.
The final result gives the Spider lineup a more unique, high-end appearance than previous generations. Spider putters have traditionally carried a bold, high-tech aesthetic, while darker torched finish tones that down considerably.

TaylorMade also updated the sole badging and graphics throughout the family, giving the lineup a cleaner and more modern look.
Spider Stability Remains the Foundation
Even with the visual changes, the core Spider philosophy remains intact. TaylorMade continues pursuing maximum stability by using hollowed-out central sections paired with heavy perimeter weighting to push mass as far from the center of the putter as possible.

The company also places significant emphasis on how the putter sits behind the ball. Sole geometry and textured sole plate shaping were refined to help the putters sit flush and stable at address regardless of setup tendencies or green speeds.
Roll characteristics still center around the Pure Roll insert. The Surlyn and aluminum insert uses grooves angled at 45 degrees to help promote more consistent forward roll immediately after impact.

Alignment remains heavily tied to True Path, which has been a proven winner, though TaylorMade now offers both True Path and simplified sightline options throughout much of the lineup to match different player preferences.
Four Distinct Spider Tour Shapes for 2026
Rather than the new Spider models just looking different, each one is designed to feel and perform in distinct way.
TaylorMade Spider Tour
The standard Spider Tour remains the highest MOI option in the family with the deepest CG placement at 36mm behind the leading edge.

This is the classic Spider formula:
maximum stability
larger footprint
deep CG
high forgiveness
strong alignment visuals
It is available in multiple hosel and alignment configurations, allowing golfers to fine-tune toe flow and visual appearance while still maintaining the deepest CG characteristics in the lineup.
TaylorMade Spider Tour X
The Tour X continues as the most Tour-recognizable version of Spider.

This is the shape associated with both Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler and TaylorMade now offers four different configurations built around varying hosels and alignment styles.
Players can choose: True Path, single sightline, L-neck, small slant or double bend, depending on stroke preference and setup comfort. For those interested in playing what the Tour plays, the simplified sightline version mirrors Rory’s current setup preference most closely.




Compared to the standard Spider Tour, the Tour X carries a slightly more compact appearance with CG placement ranging from 34-36mm depending on the configuration.
TaylorMade Spider Tour V
The Tour V may ultimately become the most interesting model in the family. It’s a bit of a departure from the Spider concept, and may serve as a bridge.

TaylorMade intentionally designed it to appeal more directly to blade golfers. The head itself is noticeably smaller and more compact than traditional Spider designs, while the CG moves forward to just 21mm behind the leading edge.
That forward CG placement changes the overall release characteristics of the putter and creates a much more blade-like experience during the stroke.
For golfers who historically resisted Spider putters because they felt too large or too back-weighted, the Tour V provides a very different option while still retaining the forgiveness advantages of a mallet.
TaylorMade Spider Tour F
The Tour F gives TaylorMade a fang-style option within the Spider lineup. Like the Tour V, it uses a much more forward CG location at 22mm behind the leading edge, creating a more responsive and blade-like feel compared to the deeper-CG Spider Tour models.

TaylorMade’s R&D group repeatedly emphasized that both the Tour F and Tour V were designed specifically to bridge the gap between blade-style putting dynamics and mallet forgiveness.
These models offer a welcome change, because they broaden the Spider family considerably beyond the traditional “large stable mallet” category.
Spider ZT Max Pushes Stability Even Further
Alongside the new Spider Tour family, TaylorMade is also expanding its zero torque lineup with the new Spider ZT Max.

The putter is substantially larger than the original Spider ZT, with TaylorMade increasing the overall footprint roughly 20 percent while pushing MOI dramatically.
The Spider ZT Max is a multimaterial design, with aluminum through the center section, tungsten and steel positioned heavily around the perimeter, and the same toe-up zero torque shaft orientation found in the original ZT models.
The shaft enters toward the center of gravity with 2 degrees of shaft lean, 34mm of onset and a heavily stabilized orientation at address.

Compared to the original ZT, the Max version looks much larger behind the ball while also sitting very flush and stable at address. While we’ve seen many companies push towards moving the CG of zero torque putters forward, TaylorMade is taking the opposite approach to increase MOI. The tradeoff is that the putter will have the sometimes awkward visuals associated with a shaft that leans forwards since it enters farther back on the head.
TaylorMade is also offering the ZT Max in standard, counterbalance and long configurations.

Our Take on the 2026 TaylorMade Spider Tour Family
The newest Spider Tour family feels much more refined from a fitting standpoint than previous Spider generations. This is the age of personalization, and TaylorMade is jumping in head first.
Rather than simply offering different visual flavors of the same putter, TaylorMade has created a lineup where CG depth, shape, alignment style, toe flow and overall stability all work together to create distinctly different putting experiences.

The Tour V and Tour F stand out particularly well because they give traditional blade golfers a more realistic transition point into the Spider family without forcing them into extremely deep-CG mallet designs.
Meanwhile, Spider ZT Max shows TaylorMade continuing to push aggressively into the high-MOI zero torque category with one of the largest and most stability-focused designs currently on the market.
