HILTON HEAD, S.C (WTOC) – The competition continues Friday at the 58th annual RBC Heritage, with Round Two of the tournament starting at 7:05 a.m.
Event organizers say they’re expecting around 120,000 people to attend the RBC Heritage this year.
Many people are hoping to spot their favorite players swing, chip and putt their way to the number one position.
Besides bragging rights and a pretty cool tartan jacket, the winner will take home part of the $20 million purse and FexExCup points, which are important for season standings and the playoffs.
Each player in the competition is slated to return Friday and for the rest of the tournament since it’s a no-cut event.
Some fans that we spoke with say they came to the Heritage for the laidback atmosphere and gorgeous views that the course at Sea Pines offers.
One attendee who was here for Round One Wednesday says this is his first year coming to the event, and he’s grateful to have caught the action on day one of the tournament.
“So, here’s the deal, I came on the first day. And then I sit on my couch for the next three days, and I point out every place that I was standing and say ‘I was there. It’s great,’” said Scott Moon.
Another first-time Heritage goer WTOC caught up with shared which player she’s hoping comes out on top and the reason why.
“I’m kind of for Fleetwood, but you know that’s more just like I said Fleetwood Mac kind of fun name. Just going for the underdog, I guess a little bit. Not fully out of it. I think it’s only 15-1 odds or something like that so. It would always be fun to Justin Thomas redo or some of the other fun names,” Ali Kitzrow.
Saturday is expected to be one of the busiest days of the Heritage. Fans are encouraged to wear plaid for the Plaid Nation Games.
There will be a “costume” contest on Harbor Lawn from noon to 2 p.m. The best dressed participants may win tickets to next year’s event.
The final day of the tournament, which is Sunday, is scheduled to start with a Sunrise Service at Liberty Oak that everyone is invited to attend–no tickets needed.
