One of the hottest golfers on the PGA Tour has agreed to play at the Travelers Championship this summer.

Chris Gotterup, who’s already won at the Sony Open in January and the WM Phoenix Open in February, will be in Cromwell this June.

Gotterup shot 16-under in both of his wins earlier this season, taking the Sony Open title by two shots over Ryan Gerard, and winning in a playoff in Phoenix over Hideki Matsuyama.

His run on tour began last year with a terrific couple of weeks in the U.K., winning the Scottish Open on July 13 to earn a spot in the British Open a few days later. He ended up finishing third there, five shots back of champion Scottie Scheffler.

Gotterup’s hot streak culminated in him finishing No. 6 in last year’s FedEx Cup rankings. The 26-year-old, who played golf at Rutgers, is currently ranked No. 10 in the world.

A year after final-hole heartbreak, Tommy Fleetwood returning to Travelers Championship

“Chris continues to play at a very high level and we’re really excited to have him in our field,” Travelers Executive Vice President Andy Bessette said. “We gave Chris an exemption a few years ago, which allowed us to get to know him and his family. Chris is a world-class player, but he’s also a terrific young man. He’ll bring a lot of excitement to Connecticut and we look forward to welcoming him back.”

Gotterup joins defending champion Keegan Bradley, Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose as golfers who have already committed to what should be a stacked field again this year.

The Travelers Championship is set for June 25-28.
