Indoor golf course Raby’s Golf Central is temporarily closed while they move into their new location — inside of Summit Smokehouse.
“We were approached by Jim Holton, the owner, who was able to clear out some space in the restaurant,” said owner of Raby’s Golf Central, Chris Raby. “He wanted to utilize the space, so he contacted us. We’ll be right inside the smokehouse now, and we’ll even have their liquor license and their food.”
Raby has a goal of opening Golf Central by Monday, June 22, as long as everything goes according to plan. Worst comes to worst, Raby says it should be open by the Fourth of July.
“With our expansion, we have so much more seating for big events now,” Raby said. “We can do birthday parties, Christmas parties, anything people want. We can probably fit upwards of 75 people if we wanted.”
Along with the added space, Raby is introducing other virtual sports to this business. He listed baseball, football, hockey, frisbee, golf, soccer, as well as a hunting game that attendees can take part in. For something physical, they’ve also invested in a pool table and dartboards.
The indoor golf course makes use of the Trackman iO simulation platform, which offers 288 courses, 51 venues, and three new courses every month in golf alone. Players stand 10 feet away from a screen, and the platform calculates the distance the ball travels.
According to Raby’s Golf Central website, Raby opened the indoor golf course due to a desire to bring a, “fun, community-oriented business” to Mt. Pleasant. He hopes to create a welcoming environment where people of all ages could gather together and enjoy the games they have available.

Once Raby’s Golf Central opens back up, folks eating at Summit Smokehouse are invited to come by and try their hand at the variety of virtual sports they have available.
