Father’s Day weekend is almost upon us, and if the dad in your life is a golf fan, NBC Sports will have them covered all weekend long. Beginning this Thursday and continuing through Sunday, the best golfers in the world will compete in Southampton, New York to decide the winner of the 126th U.S. Open, and you can catch all the action live on NBC and Peacock. 

NBC Sports plans 175 hours of live coverage of this year’s U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, including 31 championship hours live on NBC, multiview options on Peacock, and much more. Here’s how you can catch it live, and what you can expect.

How to watch the 2026 U.S. Open

NBC Sports’ coverage of the 2026 U.S. Open begins Thursday, June 18 on Peacock, with the main broadcast beginning at 5 p.m. ET. Peacock coverage picks up again bright and early Friday morning, June 19, at 6:30 a.m. ET, with NBC joining the coverage at 1:30 p.m. ET. On Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, NBC’s coverage begins at Noon ET and runs all afternoon and into the evening, complete with a commercial free championship hour at the very end of the final day, presented without interruption by Rolex. 

Want even more U.S. Open coverage? Peacock‘s All-Access programming, hosted by Jordan Cornette and Jay Croucher, begins at 7:30 a.m. ET on Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. Sunday, featuring everything from interviews to feature groups coverage to look-ins on the main telecast. Peacock will also stream coverage of featured player groups Thursday and Friday beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET.

Mike Tirico will host coverage for NBC Sports, joined by a rotating group of play-by-play announcers and analysts including Terry Gannon, Dan Hicks, Rich Lerner, and more.

What is the U.S. Open?

One of the four “majors” in professional golf — alongside The Masters, the PGA Championship, and the Open Championship — the U.S. Open has been one of the most prestigious golf events in the world for decades. Founded in 1895, the event regularly hosts the world’s best golfers, and marks an important event for both PGA and European Tour golfers. The event features four rounds of 18 holes each, and rotates around various golf courses in the United States to maximize difficulty for players. The 2026 installment marks the sixth time Shinnecock Hills has hosted the U.S. Open.

Who’s expected to compete at the 2026 U.S. Open?

The U.S. Open features a field of 156 qualifying players, cut down to the top 60 players after the first 36 holes, which narrows the field heading into Saturday and Sunday play. This year’s U.S. Open will feature all of the top 10 ranked golfers in the world, headed up by World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler. The event marks the only major Scheffler has yet to win, which means a victory at the U.S. Open would complete a Career Grand Slam for the star after a 2024 Masters win and 2025 wins at the PGA Championship and the Open Championship. 

But the competition is stiff, including Rory McIlroy (No. 2), Cameron Young (No. 3), Matt Fitzpatrick (No. 4), Russell Henley (No. 5), Tommy Fleetwood (No. 6), Justin Rose (No. 7), Jon Rahm (No. 8), J.J. Spaun (No. 9), and Collin Morikawa (No. 10). McIlroy, Fitzpatrick, Rose, Rahm, and Spaun are all former U.S. Open champions, and Spaun will defend his 2025 crown.
