Brendon Rickheim received the Most Valuable Athlete award for the Stillwater boys golf team.
The senior was one of four All-Suburban East Conference players for the Ponies and he went on to place fifth in Section 4AAA and 27th in the Class AAA state tournament.
Senior Ryan Stanek, junior Grant Cotton and freshman Gideon Roberts joined Rickheim in earning all-conference honors while junior Oliver Ligday received honorable mention all-conference recognition.
Stillwater placed second in the SEC Tournament and totaled 52 points to finish second behind Cretin-Derham Hall (62) in the final conference standings. Mounds View (44) and White Bear Lake (41) placed third and fourth in the SEC standings.
The Ponies (293-312—605) also placed second behind Cretin-Derham Hall (281-286—567) in Section 4AAA while White Bear Lake (297-311—608) and Mahtomedi (299-312—611) followed in third and fourth.
Sophomore Kincaid Mowdy was presented the team’s Academic Award and the Ponies were also the Academic Team Champion in Section 4AAA.
Cotton took home the Most Improved Award for the Ponies while Stanek, who competed at state as a junior, garnered the Toughest Golfer Award.
Sophomore Drew Merthan and junior Brady Vindal were co-recipients of the Best Newcomer Award.
Junior Owen Myers and Cotton will serve as captains for next year’s squad.
