It is the last weekend of skiing at Killington Resort but with summer activities opening, staff say there is something for everyone. There were plenty of people at Killington for the start of its closing ski weekend on Friday. Some guests enjoyed their last day on snow, while others broke out their bikes for the first time this year. Visitors at Killington were pleasantly surprised to be on the slopes in mid-May… “I can’t believe they still have the mountain open for snowboarding when it’s like 70, 80 degrees,” said guest Devin Jackson. Visitors were thrilled to ski in warm weather. “Weather like this is second only to powder days for me. I love being able to ride with my arms out in a tee shirt,” said Becca Munkelwitz, another skier. Resort staff said it’s been a great season but after months of skiing and riding, the mountain’s last open ski lift is closing this weekend. The lift will run Saturday. Then resort staff will assess conditions and decide whether or not skiing Sunday is possible. Staff said this is their favorite weekend at the resort because both winter and summer activities are up and running. “This year is one of those times where we’re able to do mountain biking, golf and skiing all the same day,” said Josh Reed, communications director at Killington Resort. The resort’s bike park opened on Friday, already busy with riders. On Saturday, the Killington Adventure Center will also open. “We’ve got the ropes course, all will be open tomorrow,” Reed said. People who ski, golf and bike say this is the best time of the year and they’re ready to do it all on Saturday.
