MILWAUKEE — Milton’s Kade Wieland won the 2026 WPGA Junior Championship on Tuesday after a two-round score of 144 strokes.
The two-day event took place at Brown Deer Park and The Wisconsin Country Club, pitting the state’s top golfers against one another.
With the win, Wieland now advances as the sole representative from the state of Wisconsin that will compete in the 2026 PGA Junior Championship. That tournament is set to run July 28-31 in Frisco, Texas.
After shooting a 71 on Monday, Wieland, a rising senior for the Red Hawks, shot a 73 on Tuesday. His day included one birdie and a trio of bogeys. Two golfers tied for second by finishing one stroke behind Wieland.
Wieland becomes the first-ever Milton native to win the prestigious event according to tournament archives that date back to the 1990 installment.
Owen Wagie, the 2026 WIAA D1 Individual State champion, tied for 16th overall. The 2026 Edgerton graduate carded a two-round score of 149. On Tuesday, he recorded three birdies and seven bogeys.
Wieland, a University of Wisconsin commit, was able to avenge his one-stroke defeat to Wagie at the WIAA State Championships just a few weeks ago with Tuesday’s result. Wagie, on the other hand, is committed to attend Murray State at the NJCAA level.
Tyler Birkhimer, who is also set to be a senior at Milton, shot a two-round score of 169 to tie for 176th. Isaac Vogel, a 2026 Parker graduate, finished tied for 207th after securing a two-round score of 172.
