The Cobra OPTM has been making waves this year. Building on the momentum from their last release, the OPTM brings a refined shape, fast ball speeds, and a new message. Cobra drivers have always been fast, but this year accuracy is the message with their POI (Products of Inertia) story. Combine that with the FutureFit33 adapter and you have the ability to dial in the driver to your liking.

If you are reading this, odds are you are familiar with the way we test equipment. If you aren’t, lets get you up to speed. We don’t just test with low handicap players, we prefer to get information from real golfers just like you, whether you are a 4 or a 20 handicap.
For the Cobra OPTM, six forum members were selected, they chose which Cobra OPTM model they wanted to test, it was shipped to them directly and after a testing for a period of 4 weeks, these are their quick thoughts.
“The POI, or Product of Inertia is real.“
I was lucky enough to be playing the DS-ADAPT MAX K before receiving the OPTM MAX K for testing. I was already familiar with the FF33 adjustments and comfortable with the way it played.
The difference in the OPTM with the forgiveness of the off center hits is night and day. The POI, or Product of Inertia is real. Basically the reduction of of the twisting on off center hits, giving you a tighter hitting pattern and giving you more fairways hit.
I have played a lot of Drivers in my life, but i have settled on Cobra for a reason, The DS-ADAPT was awesome, but this new OPTM has raised the bar.

The OPTM X delivered exactly what Cobra’s POI story is aiming for, stability and accuracy. Even when my strike lived toe-side, dispersion stayed tight and the ball stayed playable. Once I got FF33 dialed in a bit, it became a true fairway-finder.
As a 24 handicap who’s historically fought a high-right miss, the OPTM X gave me the confidence to make a committed swing. When I found center, the face felt hot and incredibly rewarding.

The consistency and stability are what stand out most, but the biggest thing for me is the confidence it gives at address. It frames the ball really well and just makes you feel like you can make a committed swing.

The Max-D has truly made me forget about my right miss altogether off of the tee box and has given me the confidence I’ve never had before when hitting driver. As a 20+ handicap, most of us in that high-handicap group struggle with the strong fade/slice, so it’s nice to just swing freely and not have to worry about that dreadful slice, if you struggle with it. All of that while gaining more distance on top of it.
I’ve gained 25-30 yards of carry on average compared to the average carry of my previous drivers over the years.
The OPTM MAX-D does it’s job and more.
The FF33 system is a game changer and once you find that one setting that works with your swing and eliminates your miss, it instills immediate confidence. Real talk.

The OPTM LS has the potential of being a ball speed demon while maintaining accuracy. Even with poor contact you are never punished too much and find your ball in a playable position. The LS also allows you to swing in control and still launch balls way down the fairway and end up in places you don’t normally expect.
The best thing about the LS and the OPTM line in general is the ability to adjust your club at will with the multiple weight ports and the crown jewel that is the FF33 hosel.

Cobra’s OPTM line is fast. It’s far. But it’s more accurate than any driver I’ve ever used. Standing over the ball, the confidence I have in my chosen line lets me do two things.
One, I can take lines I normally wouldn’t because of that confidence in the shape I’ll see. Two, I’m not trying to do anything but swing my swing. No other thoughts than just “go for it!”. OPTM X is a driver that being in the bag this year will be a weapon, a freeing weapon.
