Four days and 72 holes weren’t enough to determine a winner of the 2026 Travelers Championship.
Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland went to a playoff Monday morning at TPC River Highlands, and it only took one hole to determine a winner. Hovland sank a birdie putt from just outside 6 feet while Scheffler lipped his out from four, giving Hovland his eighth PGA Tour victory and first of 2026.

Viktor Hovland wins his eighth PGA Tour event
A cool note from Hovland’s win. It’s the first event his mom has been at a tournament he has won.
Playoff is underway. Viktor Hovland hits first and finds the fairway. He’s 2 under on the hole this week. Scottie Scheffler is next. He’s also in the fairway but has played the hole 1 over this week. Players have about 10 yards between their balls off the tee.
Scheffler will hit first. He has 154 yards to the hole, which is in the similar location as Sunday’s final round pin. And he hits a great shot inside of 5 feet just past the hole. It’ll be a downhill putt. 153 in for Hovland, and his shot comes up just outside of Scheffler’s but will be on a similar line.
Hovland will putt first from just outside of 6 feet. Hovland pours it in and gives a big fist pump. Pressure on Scottie now. And he misses. Viktor Hovland wins the Travelers Championship.

Scottie Scheffler is 2-2 in his PGA Tour career in playoffs. He won the 2024 edition of the Travelers in a playoff, beating Tom Kim in extra holes. He lost to Matt Fitzpatrick earlier this year in a playoff at the RBC Heritage. Viktor Hovland has been in only one playoff during his PGA Tour career, beating Denny McCarthy to win the 2023 Memorial Tournament.
