DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — Tonight’s Hometown Heroes took their first swings for a local nonprofit.
The inaugural Drive for Heartbeats Golf Scramble teed off on Friday at Dauphin Highlands to raise money for the Peyton Walker Foundation, which aims to put an AED in every park.

AEDs can save the life of someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. Julie Walker started the foundation in 2014 after her daughter, Peyton, died from the condition.
The event on Friday balanced the seriousness of the cause with fun.
“We have CPR training at one of the courses. We’ve got putt for prizes taking place. We’ve got a golf cannon where you can shoot a golf ball out of a cannon — I mean, how much fun is that?” Walker said.

Sarah Barr, owner of tournament organizer Konhaus Print and Marketing, said the goal of the event was to raise money to put at least one AED in a park. Ultimately, 120 golfers took part in the fundraiser.
“I had never thrown a tournament like this, so I didn’t know what all was involved with it, and definitely have surpassed the goal,” Barr said.
