THE semi finalists of the Inverness Four Day Open have been decided after the First Round and Quarter Finals of the Matchplay Round took place today.
Defending champion Jordan Shaw progressed to the semi finals after two tight matches, beating David Oddy at the 18th before a playoff win against Stuart Connell at the 19th.
Lewis Watt’s bid to become the first North East based player to win the event since Keith Hird in 1985 was ended at the last 16 stage by David Joel who then lost to Ruairidh Greenwood in the quarter finals.
In the bottom half of the draw, Jamie Whittet beat 2024 champion Lewis Reid and then progressed to the semi finals with a narrow win over John Forbes who had beaten Scott Chisholm in the last 16. Jamie will face Moray’s Ryan Copland in tomorrow’s second semi final after he beat Paul Savage and Steven Paterson.

In the Section One competition, double defending champion Dougie Gordon won a close match against Scott Gilbert and faces a semi final against Graham Gunn who beat Andrew Hutchison.
In the bottom half, Kieran Rorison beat Keith Dinwoodie and will play Eric Brown who beat leading qualifier Aden Boyce.
In the Section Two competition, Steven Grant enjoyed 3&2 wins over both Andrew Strathdee and Barry Gunn to set up a semi final with Colin McMillan who beat Steven McCabe.
2024 champion James Greenwood beat Peter Sinclair and Mike Cormack and will play Stuart Caithness who overcame Ricky Fraser and Brian Chisholm.
In Section Three competition, Mark Farquhar recorded two impressive wins, beating past champion Michael Martin in the round of 16 before seeing off top seed Graeme Thomson in the quarter finals.
In the semi final Mark will play Jamie Cameron who beat Ruairidh Bain. In the bottom half of the draw Lewis Nesbitt beat Willie Chisholm and will play Matty Sharples who beat Jake Howie at the 19th in the final match of the day.
In the stableford qualifier for the Stewart Coghill Trophy four home players all progressed.
