CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – The first round of the 2026 Truist Championship in Charlotte has been delayed again because of rain.
The PGA Tour announced the latest delay around just before 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 7 — the second of the day at Quail Hollow Club.
Thursday’s first round was delayed the first time on Wednesday, with heavy rain in the forecast both Wednesday night and Thursday morning. The rain did continue into Thursday, with Charlotte picking up well over an inch, closer to two inches in some places.
Following the latest delay, golfers began teeing off at 12:30 p.m. in groups of three.
Groups will tee off from both the first and 10th holes to allow all players to get underway by 2:31 p.m.

Of note, Rory McIlroy will play with Matt Fitzpatrick and Justin Rose on Thursday and Friday. Their opening round will now get underway at 1:03 p.m. on Thursday.
Charlotte was forecast to have a midday break in the rain before another round moved in late in the afternoon or early evening.
The forecast looks significantly better with dry weather in store both Friday and Saturday before a late-day rain chance moves in for the final round on Sunday.
