GOLFERS are battling it out for one of the biggest prizes in the sport in Moray this week.

The Elgin Golf Club Five Day Open has been taking place starting on Monday with the final set to take place later on Friday.

The competition is an annual men’s individual strokeplay and matchplay competition held at the Hardhillock course.
The week features an 18-hole qualifying strokeplay for the first two days, followed by knockout matchplay stages for the championship trophies.

They include Kynoch Shand Cup, WJ Clark Cup Engineers Salver and Alan Milne Silver.

The tournament also features themed social nights, raffles, and daily meals at the Hardhillock Bar and Bistro.

Ryan Copland of Moray Golf Club is the defending champion of the Kynoch Shand Cup after winning it last year.
Mike Ralph of Elgin Golf Club won the WJ Clark Cup last year.
Kevin Duguid of Elgin Golf Club won the Engineer Salver last year with Russell Mackay winning the Jag Innes Cup.
Bob Fyvie from Elgin Golf Club won the Alan Milne Senior Shield.
