Queensland’s Justice Bosio has made it nine Australians in the field for this week’s AIG Women’s Open as one of 13 players to book a spot in the field through final qualifying. It will be her first start in a major championship.

Bosio carded a three-under 69 at St Annes Old Links to share third place among the field of 111 starters and avoid a playoff for the final spots in the championship. England’s Bel Wardle and Belgian Manon De Roey shot 68s to lead the way. Eight players shot two-under 70 but only six of them advanced after an eight-for-six playoff to decide the remaining qualifiers.
Bosio will now focus on the Royal Lytham & St Annes layout with renewed vigour after successfully reacquainting herself with the tools required for links golf.
“I came out yesterday and played a practice round and it was very windy, so I think that helped today,” the 22-year-old said. “It’s my first links golf since the Women’s Amateur at Prince’s in 2023. Where I struggle sometimes on links course is creativity, but I visualised all my shots pretty well today.
“It’s really exciting to qualify for my first major. It’s my rookie season on the Ladies’ European Tour and I’ve just come back from three weeks off at home. Previously, I had some good form with a tied-second at the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open and tied-fifth at the Dutch Ladies Open. I had confidence in my game.”
The Australians joining Bosio in the field for the last major of 2026 are Hannah Green, Minjee Lee, Grace Kim, Karis Davidson, Steph Kyriacou, Cassie Porter, Kelsey Bennett and Kirsten Rudgeley. The AIG Women’s Open begins on Thursday.
