TUPPER LAKE — Potsdam Town and Country Club hasn’t enjoyed a run like this since the early 1950s.
The golf course captured its third Northern New York Golf Association Six-Man title in five years Saturday at Tupper Lake Golf Club. Potsdam recorded a two-day total of 440-445—885, leading both days, for its first crown since 2023. The course also won titles in 2021 and 2022. It’s the best showing for the club since 1951-53 when it claimed three straight Northern New York crowns. Saturday’s title was the 12th in the club’s history.
Tyler Berkman and Tom Smith each tied for the Potsdam low total at 2-under-par 140. Berkman shot a 69-71 over the two days and Smith a 67-73.
Host course Tupper Lake finished second with a 903 (456-447). Tupper Lake’s Wyatt Trudeau took medalist honors with a 4-under 138, shooting a 67 on Saturday after a 71 the first day.
St. Lawrence Golf and Country Club placed third at 914 (455-459). Ryan Jones shot a 148 (73-75) to lead the Canton course. Malone Golf Club was fourth at 923 (453-470) with Ed Davis shooting 147 (74-73).
The River Course of Louisville placed fifth at 927 (472-455), followed by last year’s champion Carlowden at 929 (462-467).
C-Way Golf Course placed seventh at 947 (471-476), Gouverneur eighth (476-470—950), Patridge Run ninth (477-480—957), and Ives Hill 10th (500-496—996).
Jack Finnerty of Patridge Run shot a two-day 140 (68-72) to tie Potsdam’s Berkman and Smith for second place. Gouverneur’s Raine Rumble scored a 143 (70-73) for third place.
The Tupper Lake tournament was the 90th in history, which dates to 1934. Ives Hill Country Club leads the total number of championships with 32. Massena Golf Club/River Course and Malone is second with 14 and Potsdam is fourth with 12.
