The latest round of the Craigie Joinery Ltd Summer League at Thurso Golf Club produced a thrilling finish as Cameron Reid emerged as overall winner with 41 points (5).

Reid’s composed play throughout the day was capped by a spectacular run of birdies at holes 13, 17 and 18.

Gary Leonard followed closely with 40 points (18) to take the runner-up spot, while Jordan Bain edged Nicky Doherty on countback for overall third with both finishing on 37 points.

Just behind, Paul Foulkes, Derek Manson and Jordan Youngson each posted 36 points, separated only by their final-nine performance. Walter Rutherford, Clark Grant and Tyler Gordon completed the top 10 with 35 points, again decided on countback.

On Sunday the annual Dave Lyall Trophy produced a fiercely contested battle on the full course. Ian MacDonald was overall winner after carding a superb nett 68 (87 – 19), earning him top honours in a field separated by just three shots.

Andrew Main followed closely with a nett 69 (79 – 10) to take the runner-up position, while Nicky Doherty secured overall third with a tidy nett 70 (78 – 8).

The competition for fourth place came down to a countback, with Ronald Reid edging ahead thanks to a stronger finish over the last nine holes, posting nett 71 (92 – 21). Steve Spargo also finished on nett 71 (77 – 6) and had the lowest gross score of the day.
