MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, is getting started at TPC Southwind in Memphis this week.
The top 70 players in the FedEx Cup standings are qualifying to play in Memphis, but only 69 have committed.
Of those 69, 10 are ranked in the top 10 of the World Golf rankings, and eight are former FedEx Cup champions, including last year’s FedEx Cup champion, Tommy Fleetwood.
Ahead of the weekend, Fleetwood also participated in the FedEx Precision Match at TPC Southwind on Monday.
Fleetwood was joined by Memphis Grizzlies rookie Cam Boozer and young golfers from the local First Tee program for a series of golf challenges that highlight how the principles of precision, consistency and smart decision-making translate across sports and reflect the values that drive championship performance.
“Never forget who you are and never let anybody take away what you’re great at,” Fleetwood said.
“It’s hard to make time sometimes, but whenever I can be there for others… just to be able to give a little something or put a smile on someone’s face,” Boozer said.
The first round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship tees off Thursday.
