GOLFERS will once again take to the fairways at Royal Jersey Golf Club on August 20 for an annual charity day raising money and awareness for the rare condition Nystagmus.

The event, which has been running since 2021, will see 12 teams compete over 18 holes before coming together for a three-course lunch and cash prizes.

Organised by James Singleton in support of his son, Sullivan, the event raised more than £5,000 in its first year.

Nystagmus is a condition characterised by rapid, involuntary and uncontrollable eye movements, which can affect a person’s vision, balance and coordination.

With four-ball places costing £600, golfers will be combining a day of competition at Royal Jersey with the opportunity to support a cause that is deeply personal to the Singleton family.

Among those taking part this year will be Jersey Evening Post sports reporter Archie Corbett and his family, who will join the other teams on the course.

While there will be plenty of friendly competition across the 18 holes, the main aim will be to raise as much money as possible for Nystagmus.

Those unable to take part in the golf can still support the fundraising effort through the event’s JustGiving page.
