Are you ready for some playoff golf? Welcome to the 2026 FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first of three postseason events that make up the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

A winner for the first time two weeks ago at the Rocket Classic, Thorbjornsen closed birdie-eagle-par-birdie to post 5-under 65 and tie Jordan Spieth for the lead. Thorbjornsen’s final birdie came via a beautiful chip shot after his approach missed the green right.

Tommy Fleetwood starts hot, takes early lead

Reigning FedEx Cup champion Tommy Fleetwood made two birdies and an eagle in his first four holes to jump out to an early lead Thursday in Memphis.

Rory McIlroy begins opening round in Memphis

For the first time in more than a month, Rory McIlroy has teed off in a PGA Tour-sanctioned event. The world No. 2 and reigning Masters champ has played competitively since the Open Championship. He opted in to the FedEx St. Jude Championship this week after skipping this event last year.

Jackson Koivun gets FedEx St. Jude Championship underway

The “bubble boy” Jackson Koivun hit the opening tee shot just after 8:10 a.m. ET Thursday at TPC Southwind and we are underway at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. Koivun, who won the 3M Open last month, snuck into the playoffs at No. 70 in the standings despite only having been a pro for about 40 days. He’s playing alone for the first two days in Memphis due to the fact that Daniel Berger withdrew, bringing the field down to odd number 69.

Players and fans will be dealing with highs in the upper 90s and a heat index well north of 100 Thursday in Memphis.

There were 70 who qualified but there will only by 69 on the tee sheet as Daniel Berger opted not to play due to injury. The field also includes 11 first-timers, including Jackson Koivun, who got in on the number at No. 70.

What are the betting odds for the 2026 FedEx St. Jude Championship?

12. That is the number of players that qualified for the playoffs for the first time. Kristoffer Reitan (18th)is the highest ranked first timer entering the week. Reitan is one of five rookies to make it along with Alex Fitzpatrick (19th), Sudarshan Yellamaraju (57th), Jordan Smith (64th) and Jackson Koivun (70th). Here are 15 other stats to ponder this week.
