The 2026 FedEx St. Jude Championship rolls on at TPC Southwind in Memphis.

There’s no cut at this week’s event so all 68 golfers in the field (there have now been two WDs) advanced to the weekend and collect a paycheck. Aside from a trophy, there’s also a chase to the top 50, as only the top 50 in the points standings after this week will move on to the BMW Championship, the second of three events that make up the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Vik has climbed into a tie for second at 8 under after shooting 64. Aberg is solo fourth at 7 under after his 65.

Scottie Scheffler makes a run at course record

Scheffler left his birdie putt on 18 short and left but made his par and posted 9-under 61 to tie the course record and he holds the solo lead by three shots.

Matti Schmid aces the par-3 fifth

Schmid has made the first hole-in-one of the week at the St. Jude. He was the last player to come through that hole Friday. It’s the third ace at TPC Southwind since the event became a playoff event.

Scottie Scheffler tied for the lead on his back nine

Scheffler opened with five straight birdies.

Robert MacIntyre withdraws from FedEx St. Jude

Robert MacIntyre has withdrawn from the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the PGA Tour announced Friday morning. A reason for his WD was not cited, but he posted a disappointing 12-over 82 in Thursday’s opening round at TPC Southwind in Memphis, finishing the day dead last on the leaderboard, eight shots behind the next-worst score. Sungjae Im opens up big lead Friday

Sungjae Im fired a 5-under 30 on the front nine early Friday to get to 9 under and take a commanding four shot lead over the field. The 28-year-old from South Korea is a two-time winner on the PGA Tour but hasn’t hoisted a trophy in more than five years.

It’s going to be another brutally hot and humid day for players and fans at TPC Southwind, with a high around 100 degrees and a heat index north of 110.
