It’s time for the semifinals of the 126th U.S. Amateur.
The week started with 312 players battling it out for a spot in match play, and only four remain with a shot to lift the Havemeyer Trophy. There will be plenty of stress come Saturday. For the two players who advance, they’ll get into the championship match and get spots in next year’s Masters and U.S. Open.

Championship final set to begin at 8 a.m.
The U.S. Amateur final match will begin at 8 a.m. ET at Merion. The duo will play the first 18 holes before a lunch break and return in the afternoon to finish the match.
Jack Whaley is heading to the final and will face Jay Leng Jr. after winning on the 18th hole.
Jay Leng Jr. advances to final
The hottest player in amateur golf has a chance to win the biggest title in amateur golf. Jay Leng Jr. knocks off Logan Reilly, 2 and 1, and he’s into the 36-hole championship final at Merion.

Jay Leng Jr. is closing on in a chance to become the 10th person to win the Western Am and U.S. Am in the same summer. He’s 2 up with three to go after this birdie.
Carter Loflin trying to claw back
He’s not out of it yet. Carter Loflin wins the 15th hole and is only one down with three to play against Jack Whaley.

Jay Leng goes 2 up at the turn
Can his run continue? Jay Leng Jr. is now 2 up after barely getting this putt on the ninth in the hole.

A dominant start from England’s Jack Whaley, who goes 3 up after a stellar approach on the sixth and converting for birdie.
Jay Leng Jr., Logan Reilly trading punches early
Jay Leng Jr. and Logan Reilly have each won two of the first four holes, and the match is tied after four. Whaley remains 2 up thru five holes after a stellar up and down on the long par-4 fifth.
Semifinal matches underway at Merion
We’re off in the semifinals, where Englishman Jack Whaley has taken a 1-up lead after the first hole on Carter Loflin. Whaley won the hole with a par.
