Scottie Scheffler won the FedEx St. Jude Championship over the weekend, earning $3.6 million in the process. Scheffler moved up some impressive all-time PGA Tour leaderboards with the win and finds himself among some of the best golf company ever.

The easiest way to explain Scheffler’s incredible career is to say he’s about to pass Tiger Woods as the highest earner in PGA history.

Scheffler has won $119,964,411 in his career. Woods is sitting at $120,999,166. Scheffler passed Rory McIlroy with his latest win. McIlroy is the only other player to win over $100 million at $116,488,372. Fourth place belongs to Justin Rose, who has earned more than $78 million.

There’s a chance that Scheffler moves past Woods over the next two events. There is a $20 million purse at the BMW Championship this weekend and another $40 million in prize money at the Tour Championship, where the top eight of the 30-player field will earn at least $1 million. Scheffler needs $1,034,756 to pass Woods.

The PGA really should really make sure they bring their oversized checkbook to every tournament Scheffler plays until he passes Tiger.

It doesn’t count toward career earnings, but Scheffler also has clinched a $23 million bonus for leading the playoff standings after the BMW Championship. No one can catch him at this point.

Speaking of Tiger, according to ESPN, Scheffler also tied him for the “second-longest streak of consecutive seasons with multiple wins on the PGA Tour over the last 40 years.” Tiger did it for five consecutive years twice and if Scheffler can win two events next season, he’ll be tied with Phil Mickelson at six.

Scheffler first broke the million-dollar mark in the 2019-2020 season with $2.4 million in winnings plus another $2.5 million bonuses. According to Spotrac, his winnings peaked (for now at least) in 2024 when he won $24.5 to go along with $42 million in bonuses and another $4.6 million at the majors. That was the year he won The Masters, The Players Championship and gold at the Olympics. He also finished in the top 10 at the PGA Championship and Open Championship.

Last year he won two majors. This year he finished in the top five at three of the majors. You know all this. He’s on a generational run and the only thing left to do is officially move past Tiger. Then the only left to do is to win the U.S. Open and complete the career Grand Slam.
