DUBLIN, Ohio (WCMH) — The Memorial Tournament will be part of the PGA Tour’s Championship Series starting in 2028.

In an announcement on Monday, Memorial organizers said they were proud to become part of the relatively new championship series, which launched in 2026.

The schedule for the 2028 PGA Tour Championship Series will be announced at a later date.

“True to the Memorial’s founding pillars created by Jack and Barbara Nicklaus, the Tournament has remained, since its inception in 1976, focused on honoring golf’s greatest traditions while consistently hosting golf’s most accomplished players of today,” Dan Sullivan, executive director of the Memorial Tournament, said in a statement. “Our focus is to provide the patrons, community, volunteers, and partners with the opportunity to enjoy the highest level of competition on the PGA TOUR on one of the premier courses in the sport to benefit charitable partners in central Ohio and beyond.”

Comprised of about 23 events, the PGA Tour Championship Series will feature the tour’s top players competing against each other throughout the season. In addition to the Memorial, the series includes The Players Championship and international team events like the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup, along with several other events.

The complete 2028 PGA TOUR Championship Series schedule, including tournament dates, venues and event names, will be announced at a later date.

The 2027 Memorial Tournament presented by Workday is scheduled for May 31-June 6 at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin.
