Scottie Scheffler marked his switch to TaylorMade’s Qi4D driver with an emphatic eight-shot victory at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
The World No.1 finished 17-under at TPC Southwind following rounds of 68, 61, 68 and 66, securing his 21st PGA TOUR title and becoming the third-fastest player in Tour history to reach that landmark.
Scheffler put the Qi4D driver into tournament play following an extensive testing process with TaylorMade’s Tour team. According to the company, the new model delivered increased ball speed while providing the spin characteristics Scheffler wanted for his shot-making.
“From the beginning, Scottie told us that Qi4D has been faster and it holds the spin better than his previous driver. Since then, we have worked relentlessly based off his feedback to give him a driver that perfects every performance variable that is unique to him,” said Adrian Rietveld, TaylorMade Director of Global Tour Operations.
Scheffler’s 8° Qi4D was built to 7.8° of measured loft and featured four adjustable weights, with 13g and 10g weights positioned in the front toe and heel respectively and two 4g weights at the rear. It was paired with a 45-inch Ventus Black 7X shaft.
The new driver helped Scheffler finish 11th in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee for the tournament. During his second-round 61, he hit 11 of 14 fairways.
It was also a standout week on the greens. Scheffler gained a career-best 8.92 strokes putting with his TaylorMade Spider Tour X L-Neck, making 23 birdie putts and holing almost 383 feet of putts across the four rounds.
Scheffler has now recorded 17 worldwide victories since switching to Spider Tour X in 2024.
His TaylorMade set-up also included a Qi10 15° 3-wood and P·7TW irons from 5-PW. Scheffler first switched to the Tiger Woods-designed irons after playing alongside Woods during the final round of the 2020 Masters.
