Wyndham Clark will take a one-shot lead into the weekend at the BMW Championship over a pair of U.S. Open champions.

Reigning U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark will take a one-shot lead into the weekend at the BMW Championship, playing his first two rounds at 12 under par.

He did so without making a single bogey in either round, the first time in his PGA Tour career he’s gone bogey-free in back-to-back rounds.

“It’s been a nice really nice boring golf, which is kind of always the dream that you play, so it’s been good,” Clark said. “I said to everyone, if I continue to hit fairways, I think I can continue to do that with my play. Hopefully I keep that going.”

After carding five birdies on his final six holes for a 6-under 64 Thursday, Clark followed it up with another impressive ball-striking performance Friday. He hit 17 of 18 greens in regulation, leading the field with 3.277 strokes gained from approach to green.

“I felt great,” Clark said. “Really drove it nicely. I hit some awesome iron shots throughout the day where a couple times I didn’t really even have to putt.”

Trailing him are a pair of former U.S. Open champions in Gary Woodland and J.J. Spaun.

Woodland, Thursday’s co-leader, followed up his impressive round with a 5-under 65 Friday to sit one shot back of Clark. Entering the week ranked 31st in the FedEx Cup standings, Woodland has felt the support of the St. Louis crowd with many fans of his alma mater Kansas University in attendance.

“I feel very comfortable,” Woodland said. “It’s nice being close to home. It’s nice having so much support out here. The fans have been amazing. I’m definitely feeding off that energy for sure.”

Celebrating his 36th birthday Friday, Spaun fired a 4-under 66 to sit two shots back of the lead. After struggling with inconsistency on the greens in 2026, Spaun returned to the LAB putter he won the U.S. Open with this week, and, so far, it’s proving to be the right decision.

Through 36 holes, Spaun ranks third in the field with 3.882 strokes gained putting while making 114 feet of putts.

“Some people call it honeymoon phase and stuff, but this one’s been around for a while and has seen some really cool things,” Spaun said. “So, it’s nice to get back into it and feel like the work that I’ve been doing with my stroke is paying its dividends with this new putter or with my, you know, old new putter. I feel comfortable with it because I’ve had so much success with it.”

After a slow start Thursday positioned him near the bottom of the leaderboard, Scottie Scheffler responded with a 5-under 65 in his second round, carding five birdies on his back nine to finish the day tied for 25th.

With two wins on the season, a playoff victory this week could vault Clark into the Player of the Year race. He’ll be playing for more than just an award, looking to earn his place at the upcoming President’s Cup in September.

“That’s where I want to be,” Clark said. “I don’t want to leave it up to a captain’s choice. I’m playing my hardest to try to get those last six spots.”
