La Sasso carded a sublime round of 60, one that featured 10 birdies and eight pars.
The 22-year-old is currently sitting at nine-under par for the tournament, two strokes adrift of the leader, R.T. Lee, with 36 holes left to play at The Club at Chatham Hills.
La Sasso, who received a multi-million dollar fee to join LIV Golf in January of this year, is obviously a highly talented golfer.

However, many questioned his decision to join LIV Golf, especially because he forfeited his invite to play at The Masters as a result.
And with LIV Golf facing such an uncertain future, his decision to join the league now looks even more questionable.
That said, he deserves nothing but praise for his performance on day two at LIV Golf Indianapolis.

After joining the University of Mississippi ahead of his sophomore year, he recorded the lowest scoring average in a single season in their history (69.48).
So we all know he is capable of producing some quality golf.

And he proved that on Friday in Indianapolis. La Sasso spoke to reporters after his superb second round and revealed what he told his coach the night before, when responding to a question about his performance.

“Pretty good, I’d say,“ the young American said.
“We just kind of found a good zone. Honestly, I called my coach last night who was here beginning of the week, and I was like, I didn’t really feel like I was that far off yesterday, and today I didn’t feel like I did much different.
“A couple putts dropped, and next thing you know it’s an 11-shot difference. Kind of a funny game we play.“
Michael La Sasso delivers verdict on his season
The 22-year-old was asked to sum up his 2026 season on LIV Golf.
“I mean, it’s been an interesting year,“ La Sasso admitted.
“I kind of was talking with a couple people on my team about I feel like it’s probably one of the harder tours to adjust to just with all the grass types and jet lag and everything.
“I take each week of trying to learn something. I’m pretty fortunate I have a couple older guys on the team that lead me in a good direction. They say I won’t listen to them, but I listen to what they have to say. Kind of each week trying to learn a little bit and progress.
“It is still pretty early in my professional career for sure. Just trying to chip away at it the best I can.“
