Two days after winning the Madison County Tournament with a program-record score, Edwardsville stayed near the top of the field with a second-place finish at the Quincy Invitational.
The Tigers shot a five-man score of 370 on Aug. 22 at Westview Golf Course in Quincy, finishing behind tournament champion Quincy Notre Dame.
QND shot 353, while O’Fallon placed third at 387 in the 16-team event.
Other Southwestern Conference teams included Belleville East in seventh at 416, Alton in eighth at 423 and Collinsville in 13th at 440.
Edwardsville’s 370 was one of its lowest scores in tournament history. The Tigers shot 372 to win the event in 2007 and finished fourth with a 391 last season.
Edwardsville was coming off a program-best four-man score of 7-under-par 281 at the Madison County Tournament on Aug. 20 at Belk Park Golf Course.
Michael Shaw led the Tigers at Quincy, tying for fourth with an even-par 71. He carded two birdies and two bogeys.
Shaw’s fourth-place finish was Edwardsville’s best individual result at the tournament since Zach Trimpe placed second with a 1-over 72 in 2018.
Brian Cooper finished sixth with a 1-over 72, while Bennett Briggs tied for eighth at 3-over 74. Drew Capron tied for 13th at 5-over 76, and Luke Maxim tied for 17th at 6-over 77.
Quincy Notre Dame’s Oliver Hendrian won medalist honors with a 3-under 68.
