The 30-year-old started the final round at East Lake three strokes behind Viktor Hovland and overturned the deficit with relative ease.
He has now further solidified his place as the world’s best golfer with his third Tour win of the season and his 22nd in five years.
Former European Tour player Wayne Riley has since compared Scheffler to Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman for one specific reason.

Scottie Scheffler has become such a prolific winner on the PGA Tour that he is being compared to the all-time greats.
Wayne Riley believes that Scheffler has an “aura” that intimidates his fellow players when he is near the top of the leaderboard.

Without playing any heroic shots, the American finds a way to get into contention and rarely makes mistakes in key moments.
This makes Scheffler similar to both Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman, who have more than 200 professional victories between them.
“The right guy won, and he just creeps up on them. Norman used to be able to do that,” Riley said on Sky Sports.

“Some players just tiptoe along, don’t take too many risks, and when it comes down to the sharp end of the tournament, they just drift away.
“Now he has such an aura he can speak to these players through the leaderboard just by being up there. Rory [McIlroy] is one. Is he as much any more? I’d say so.
“But you have the greats of the game, like Nicklaus, when you look up there and think, ‘Whoa,’ and this guy is that. You think, ‘How can I beat this guy?’”
Some might say that Scheffler is not the most entertaining golfer in the world, but he is certainly the best by a wide margin.
If he continues to win at the same rate for the foreseeable future, he will soon earn more comparisons to the likes of Nicklaus.
