Scheffler is now a two-time FedEx Cup champion. Of course, he was denied the title last year after a change to the format at East Lake.

However, he was able to make amends in 2026, with the world number one producing a superb final round to catch Viktor Hovland in Atlanta.
Scheffler’s victory surely puts the Player of the Season debate to bed, with the 30-year-old winning for a third time this year. Meanwhile, he registered his 13th top five finish of the campaign at the finale.
There have been plenty of frustrating moments along the way for Scheffler. Nevertheless, it has been yet another year of incredible highs.
However, when speaking to CBS after the final round, Scheffler admitted that it was not easy to pick out the most memorable moment of the season.
He also spoke about the reception he has received from the crowds.

“I don’t know. I think days like today are really fun. Being able to come from behind and win is a really cool feeling,” he said.

“There is a lot of talented guys in front of me on the leaderboard. I was fortunate to get off to a good start and put myself in the mix.
“The crowd this week has been amazing. The support that I have gotten week in and out on the PGA Tour has been tremendous.
“I have a tendency to keep my head down and stay in my own lane when I’m playing but it’s really fun when you are able to win and celebrate with the fans in moments like these and have my family here.
“I feel bad sometimes, I really do keep my head down and focus as much as I can. But I hear all the cheers and I’m very thankful for all of them.”
Scheffler reacts to catching Viktor Hovland during the final round of the Tour Championship
Scheffler began the final round at the Tour Championship in the penultimate group, and three shots behind Viktor Hovland.
In the end, there was no dramatic finish. As Hovland toiled, Scheffler was able to open up a sizeable lead.
That meant that when Hovland was forced to chip out for his second shot on the 72nd hole, Scheffler was confirmed as the FedEx Cup champion.
And he explained how satisfying it was to catch the overnight leader and secure his 22nd PGA Tour victory.
“I think that is something I am very proud of. When you look over the course of the season, especially after some of the tough starts, shooting over par on the PGA Tour is never a good spot to be in,” he said.
“I am proud of fighting back and giving myself some chances to win, even after some of those poor starts.
“Overall I just continue to battle day in and day out. It’s something I am very proud of. It’s a gift to be out here on Tour and I am going to give it my very best. This week I just brought a lot of good energy to the course and tried to do my best.”
What will alarm many is that Scheffler ended the 2026 season with three victories while seemingly spending so much of the year short of his very best.
He had 13 top five finishes, while just one other player managed to reach double figures for top 10 results.
If 2026 was some sort of blip, it is terrifying to think of what may be to come for Scheffler.
