Scottie Scheffler won his second Tour Championship in three years on Sunday, and Amanda Balionis heaped praise on the world No. 1 following the end of the 2026 season

Scottie Scheffler won the Tour Championship to close out the PGA Tour season — and Amanda Balionis hailed the world No. 1 for his relentless ability and skill.
The World No. 1 clinched the Tour Championship by three strokes to claim his second career FedEx Cup title and surpass Tiger Woods in career earnings with over $130 million. Scheffler’s win represented his third title of the season, and he will most likely secure the Player of the Year award, too.
The 30-year-old’s win at East Lake Golf Club saw him complete a fine season with three trophies and five runner-ups. Scheffler came to life late in the year, with two of his titles coming during the FedEx Cup playoffs. It comes as PGA Tour tournament faces boycott threats after Donald Trump lands new role.
Ultimately, CBS reporter Balionis was impressed. She interviewed the four-time major champion after his win, and then took to social media to praise his perplexingly dominant ability while wrapping up the 2026 season.
“We are firmly in the Scottie Scheffler era… and my goodness is this fun,” Balionis began. “Today, World Number 1 claimed his 22nd win and 2nd FedExCup all in a four-year span.
“It’s hard to wrap my head around the consistency and pure competitive nature we have witnessed from Scheffler every single time he tees it up. His intrinsic motivation is something you see from the 1% of the 1% of elite athletes, and it’s been a privilege to be a small part of the team that brings these moments to our @golfoncbs viewers all season.
“Thank you to everyone who tuned in during our 22-week coverage of the 2026 season. That’s officially a wrap!”

Scheffler is considered the favorite to win his fifth straight Player of the Year award, joining Woods, who won from 1999 to 2003. During the CBS broadcast on Saturday, Balionis waxed lyrical about the American, insisting he has to take home the award.
“I think it has to be Scottie Scheffler right now,” Balionis said. “And if he goes on to win, it solidifies the deal. It’s not even close. Just statistically, he’s so far and away from everyone else on the PGA Tour. It’s kind of mind-blowing.”
Jim Nantz agreed, saying: “If you ask me, the Player of the Year right now is Scottie. And as we sit here now, I expect he’s going to win tomorrow. And if he doesn’t, he still will be the Player of the Year unless Wyndham has another magical weekend.”
Scheffler was pleased with his performance, and explained the secret behind his fine showing. He said: “I feel like I hold myself to a high standard, which I think sometimes can be good and bad. I feel like at times I probably could be a bit of a pain to be around when things aren’t going the way they should.
“I don’t feel like I take days off. I’m highly competitive, and I’m very proud of being able to have the consistent results I’ve had over the years.”
