Scottie Scheffler’s old car was bid on by golf legend Jim Nantz and for a good cause.
Scheffler currently is No. 1 on the PGA Tour’s career earnings list, having made over $130 million so far, besting Tiger Woods by almost $10 million. Even still, the star remained faithful to the car his father, Scott Scheffler, gifted him after college: A 2012 GMC Yukon.
And despite the PGA Tour star accruing 200,000 miles on the clock, Nantz placed on the vehicle for $50,000, which is $20,000 less than the price of a brand-new 2026 Yukon. It comes after Scheffler had a revealing conversation about LIV Golf money with his caddie.

That said, Scheffler’s decision to part ways with his 2012 vehicle is rooted in charity. Any proceeds from the Yukon’s sale will be going to the Triumph Over Kid Cancer (TOKC) Charity, a charity set up by his friend James Regan, who died from osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer, according to Golf Week.
“James was a buddy that I grew up with playing golf. He passed away due to cancer, but he started this foundation,” Scheffler said, per the outlet. “It’s something we’re very passionate about.”
The decision to give the car to TOKC to auction off came from his father, despite the car having transported Scheffler to numerous tournaments and college competitions. Once Scheffler graduated from college, his father gifted him the car, and he has driven it ever since.

Considering the car’s backstory and what it means for the Schefflers and TOKC, Nantz did his part to support the charity by placing a starting bid of $50,000.
The Yukon features Scheffler’s signature in two places: on the right side of the dashboard (on the airbag panel) with the “First Owned Vehicle” inscription, and on the right visor. So famed was Scheffler’s old Yukon that he and caddie Ted Scott had a discussion on who between them drove the less valuable car.
“I think you have the only car in player parking this week that is worth less than my car,” Scheffler said to Scott at the 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge.
“He’s like, ‘No way, man, Toyotas run forever, my car is worth way more than your car.’

“We had this back and forth and we kept hitting balls and I said, ‘I got it, my car is worth more than your car because mine has the Masters GMC logo on the back and I’m a Masters champion.’” What’s more, both he and Scott discussed whether the star would have jumped ship to LIV Golf when enormous contracts were being handed out to the sport’s biggest stars.
“I mean, the guy, literally, when I first started working for him, was 19th in the world and he had a white golf bag,” Scott told ‘Gravy and The Sleaze’. “I didn’t know him that well, and I asked him. I was like, ‘why don’t you have sponsors’? And he’s like, ‘well, because I just want to play with the equipment that I want to play’. And I was like, ‘OK’.
“And then I remember whenever all the LIV stuff was going on, you know, he was number one in the world at the time, I didn’t know, but I said, ‘they’re probably going to offer you like $250 million to go over there.’
“And he said, ‘I don’t care what they offer me. They can offer me a billion dollars. I’m going to play where the best players are because I just want to beat people’.
